Sevilay Öztürk — Biography
Sevilay Öztürk was born on 28 November 2003 in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey. A member of the Turkish national para-swimming team, she competes in the S5 disability class in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly, specializing in sprint distances.
She made her international debut at the 2016 Rio Summer Paralympics and went on to win Turkey's first-ever Paralympic swimming medal, a bronze in the women's 50m backstroke S5 at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. She followed that achievement with another bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Öztürk has continued to compete at a high level since then, winning silver at the 2025 World Para Swimming Championships, where teammate Sümeyye Boyacı took bronze in the same event. In 2026 she added a gold medal at an international swimming meet held in Germany to her list of achievements.
