Serpil Hamdi Tüzün — Biography

Serpil Hamdi Tüzün is a Turkish footballer and coach who spent many years working with the youth categories of Beşiktaş and the Turkey national team. He also managed Beşiktaş's senior team during the 1979–80 season, though he is best known for his youth development work, having helped shape the careers of players such as Sergen Yalçın, Feyyaz Uçar, Ali Gültiken and Metin Tekin.

Tüzün also worked with Turkey's national youth squads, winning gold at the Under-18 European Championship in 1992 and finishing runner-up in the same tournament in 1993. He worked with youth teams in Azerbaijan as well, and gained coaching experience as an intern at Ajax alongside Ștefan Kovács.

Known for his dislike of the term "altyapı" (youth academy), Tüzün built his own coaching philosophy, which he called "Özkaynak Düzeni", around the principles of "a good person, a good student, a good footballer", and set out this approach in his book "Futbolda Özkaynak Düzeni".
