Serkan Yıldırım — Biography
Serkan Yıldırım, born Sajjad Hashemi Ahangari in Persian, was born on 22 August 1991 in Tabriz, Iran. He began his athletics career representing Iran, where he once held the national record in the 400 meters and the 4x400 meter relay.
Since 2024 he has competed internationally for Turkey, racing in the T12 visually-impaired classification over both the 100 and 400 meter sprints. Across his career he has appeared at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games and has been crowned a T12 world champion while also setting a world record in the classification.
In July 2026 he added to his medal collection by winning gold at a competition in Mexico, extending his run of success on the international para-athletics circuit.
