Serkan Çalık — Biography
Serkan Çalık is a Turkish-German former footballer, born on March 15, 1986 in Dinslaken, Germany. He began his career in the Borussia Mönchengladbach youth system and developed into a winger capable of playing on either flank, known for his powerful long-range shooting and, thanks to his pace, nicknamed "the rabbit." After representing Germany at U21 level, he later informed the German Football Association that he wished to pursue a place with the Turkish national team instead, and went on to earn caps for Turkey's A2 side.
Signed by Galatasaray from Rot-Weiss Essen alongside teammate Barış Özbek, he made a strong impression during the 2006-07 season and was tipped as a rising talent by German goal-scoring legend Gerd Müller. In the years that followed he played for a number of other Turkish clubs, including Sarıyer, Samsunspor, Gençlerbirliği, Şanlıurfaspor, Yeni Malatyaspor and Silivrispor.
