Serhat Güller — Biography

Serhat Güller is a former defender known for his tackling, who spent five seasons at MKE Ankaragücü and won nine caps for the Turkish national team, and a manager who has coached many clubs since the early 2000s. In January 2024 he took charge of Giresunspor.

He turned professional with İnegölspor in 1987-88 and moved to Galatasaray in 1989-90, but struggled to break into the squad and was loaned to Ankaragücü the next season before joining the club permanently. In these years he played for the senior and youth national sides, and won silver at the 1991 Mediterranean Games with Turkey's under-23 side. After spells at Karşıyaka, Kardemir Karabükspor, Yimpaş Yozgatspor and Hatayspor he retired in 2000-01, having played 185 Süper Lig matches and scored nine goals.

He began coaching as an assistant, working at Kayserispor and Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, and took over İnegölspor in 2006-07. He spent two seasons at Boluspor from 2007: in the first he played a final that was lost 1-0 to Eskişehirspor, in the second a semi-final lost on penalties to Karşıyaka. In the early 2010s he was in charge there again and spoke openly of a Süper Lig target. He managed Mersin İdman Yurdu for 20 games in 2009-10 and left by mutual consent, had brief spells at Denizlispor and Bandırmaspor, and took charge of Altay for seven matches in 2014-15.
