Şeref Has — Biography
Şeref Has was born on 27 September 1936 in Istanbul and educated at Kabataş Boys High School. He played as a forward and midfielder, moving to defense late in his career, and became known above all for his headed goals; with 605 appearances for Fenerbahçe he ranks as the third most capped player in the club's history.
He earned 39 caps for the Turkish national team between 1956 and 1967, scoring one goal, and won the Turkish championship five times with Fenerbahçe; some accounts also credit him as the first Turkish footballer to play for Barcelona. After retiring as a player he served on the Turkish Football Federation's board from 1992 to 2004. His brother, Mehmet Ali Has, was also a footballer. Şeref Has died in Istanbul on 13 June 2019 at the age of 82.
