Şeref Görkey — Biography

Şeref Görkey (3 December 1914 – 10 November 2004) was a Turkish footballer and later manager who spent his entire playing career with Beşiktaş, wearing the number 10 shirt throughout his time at the club. Known to fans as "Voleci Şeref" ("Şeref the Volley Scorer") for the 99 volleyed goals he scored during his career, he finished as the club's second-highest all-time scorer behind Hakkı Yeten.

He was part of the Beşiktaş side that won nine Istanbul championships between 1933 and 1950, including five in a row, and he was also included in Turkey's squad for the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics, though he did not appear in any matches there.

After retiring as a player, Görkey went on to work as a coach and sports official. Following his death in 2004, Beşiktaş has continued to honor his memory with an annual commemoration at his grave on the anniversary of his passing.
