Serdar Ortaç — Biography

Serdar Ortaç (born 16 February 1970, Istanbul) is a Turkish singer, songwriter, composer, and radio host known for blending fantasy and pop styles into one of the most recognizable sounds in Turkish popular music. While hosting at İstanbul FM in 1993, he signed with Raks Müzik and released his debut album Aşk İçin in 1994; its track "Karabiberim" brought him nationwide recognition. He kept up his momentum with Yaz Yağmuru (1996) and Gecelerin Adamı (1998), then broke through further with his 1999 album Bilsem ki, which leaned into a fantasy-pop sound.

Throughout the 2000s he topped the charts with albums including Okyanus, Beni Unut/Çakra, Mesafe, Nefes, and Kara Kedi, and became known as one of Turkish pop's most prolific figures both for his own recordings and for the hit songs he wrote for other artists. In the 2010s he released Ray, Bana Göre Aşk, Çek Elini Kalbimden, Gıybet, and Cımbız, and over his career has received numerous honors, including six Kral Turkey Music Awards, two Mü-Yap Music Awards, and three Golden Butterfly Awards.

In the summer of 2026, reports emerged about health difficulties he was facing, including struggling to stand during a music video shoot and undergoing roughly a month of hospital treatment. Despite this, he continued performing, appearing before fans at a concert in Sinop that same month.
