Serdar Kurtuluş — Biography

Serdar Kurtuluş (born 23 July 1987 in Bursa) is a Turkish former international footballer who played as a right back. He came through the youth system at Bursaspor, broke into the first team as a teenager and was part of the squad that won the 2005–06 TFF First League title, earning promotion to the Süper Lig. In 2006 he joined Beşiktaş, where he quickly became a regular, winning the Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup in his first season and the league title in 2008–09.

In 2009 he moved to Gaziantepspor as part of a player-exchange deal, spending four seasons there as a mainstay, occasionally used as a defensive midfielder and scoring his first senior goals. He returned to Beşiktaş in 2013 and collected a second Süper Lig medal in 2015–16, a season in which his emotional reaction on the bench during a tense match endeared him to supporters. In 2016 he went back to his first club Bursaspor, though injuries and subsequent operations disrupted his later years. He made his senior Turkey debut against Brazil in June 2007 and accumulated 40 international appearances across all levels. His younger brother Serkan Kurtuluş is also a professional footballer.
