Şenol Çorlu — Biography

Şenol Çorlu is a footballer who won Fenerbahçe fans' affection in the 1980s as a goalscoring forward and later a midfielder, and was known as "Büyük Şenol" ("Big Şenol"). He scored 51 goals in 207 league matches for Fenerbahçe and entered club history with his goal at Bordeaux in the European Cup. Today he is General Coordinator of the club's Football Academy.

After starting at Petrol Ofisi, he moved to Orduspor in 1979 when the club dropped to the amateur league, then to Sakaryaspor in 1981, where he made his senior Turkey debut against the Soviet Union on 23 September 1981. He joined Fenerbahçe in 1984 and was in the side that won the league, the President's Cup and the Donanma Cup that season. In 1985-86 he scored 14 of the team's 40 goals, and on 18 September 1985 he scored the second goal in a 3-2 win at Bordeaux, the club's 50th in European competition. In 1989-90 he top-scored with 16, and on 20 August 1989 his two goals against Galatasaray, from 2-0 down, won the Prime Minister's Cup 3-2.

Loaned to Antalyaspor at the end of 1991, he bade farewell with a Fenerbahçe-Trabzonspor testimonial in 1992. He was called "Büyük Şenol" to tell him apart from Şenol Ustaömer, who arrived from Trabzonspor in 1988. After playing, he moved into youth-development management and became general coordinator in March 2026.
