Şenol Çorlu — Biography

Şenol Çorlu was born on December 3, 1961, in Ankara. He began his football career at Petrol Ofisi, moving to Orduspor in 1979 after his club's relegation to the amateur league, and his performances there earned him a transfer to Sakaryaspor as a striker in 1981. He joined Fenerbahçe in 1984, playing as a striker before shifting to midfield after 1990, and won two league titles with the club in the 1984-85 and 1988-89 seasons; after a loan spell at Antalyaspor in 1991-92, he retired from playing at the end of that season.

Çorlu made his national team debut on September 23, 1981, against the Soviet Union, going on to earn 17 caps for the senior side and 13 for the Turkey U21 team, scoring 4 international goals. Remembered as one of Fenerbahçe's most popular players for his long run of appearances and goals in the top flight, he became known among fans as "Büyük Şenol" (Big Şenol) to distinguish him from Şenol Ustaömer, who joined the club from Trabzonspor in 1988.

After retiring, Çorlu moved into coaching and youth development work, and in March 2026 he was appointed General Coordinator of the Fenerbahçe Football Academy.
