Şemsettin Baş — Biography
Born on 4 January 1973 in Istanbul, Şemsettin Baş is a Turkish basketball figure of Bosniak descent. As a player he stood 1.97 m (6 ft 5.75 in) tall and competed as a shooting guard and small forward from the start of his professional career in 1991; he is a cousin of former NBA and Euroleague player Mirsad Türkcan.
After his playing career, Baş moved into coaching and took charge of Türkiye Basketbol Ligi (TBL) club Gaziantep Basketbol. During the 2025–26 season he guided the team to the top of the league standings by January 2026, delivering a run of strong results.
