Semih Deniz — Biography

Semih Deniz, born January 5, 1989, is a Turkish Paralympic middle-distance runner who competes in the visually-impaired T11, T12 and T13 classifications. He began his athletic career in 2006, competes for Çankaya Belediyesi SK in Ankara, and has been profiled in the Turkish press as a "star of the dark tracks."

He won silver in the 400m T12 at the 2012 IPC Athletics European Championships in Stadskanaal, Netherlands, and that same year represented Turkey at the London 2012 Paralympics across the 400m T12, 800m T12 and 1500m T13 events. In 2013 he took bronze in the 1500m T12 at the World Championships in Lyon, France, and in 2014 he added silver in the 400m T11 and gold in the 1500m T11 at the European Championships in Swansea, Wales.

Deniz won another European title, gold in the 1500m T11, at the 2016 championships in Grosseto, Italy, and later that year captured a bronze medal in the 1500m T11 at the Rio de Janeiro Paralympics.
