Selin Demiratar — Biography

Selin Demiratar is an actress who turned to acting after winning Miss Globe Turkey in 1999 and finishing third at Miss Globe World the same year, and who reached a wide audience with the series Acı Hayat and Adanalı. Her screen career ran from 2001 to 2014; in October 2025 she announced that she was leaving acting.

Because of her father's work she lived in many cities as a child, and she first met acting at the Antalya Municipal Theatre. After moving to Istanbul she began her professional career in 2001 as Burcu in the series 90-60-90 and completed her university degree at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. She appeared in popular youth series such as Koçum Benim (Eylül) and Lise Defteri (Güney Esen), and played Gülçin in Sular Durulmuyor. Between 2005 and 2007 she played Nermin Yıldız opposite Kenan İmirzalıoğlu in Acı Hayat, the production that made her widely known in Turkey. In cinema she took roles in Abdülhamit Düşerken (Ayşe Sultan), Şaşkın (Pelin) and O Kadın (Yeşim).

In Adanalı, which began in 2008, she played İdil Ertürk alongside Oktay Kaynarca and Serenay Sarıkaya; the hit series mixes comedy and crime and became one of her best-known works. In the same period she appeared in Dur Yolcu (Ayşe) and Gazi (Tuna), as herself in Haneler in 2010, and later played İpek in Şüphe and Feyza in Huzur Sokağı. In 2012 she took the role of Jennifer in the film Patlak Sokaklar: Gerzomat.
