Şehmuz Özer — Biography
Şehmus Özer was born on 10 May 1980 in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır, the fourth child and first son in a Kurdish family of nine children. All six of his brothers - Zülküf, Nezir, Sadettin, Cihan and Oktay Özer - also played football, and the family became known in Turkish football as the 'Özer Brothers'. A forward, Şehmus spent much of his career with Amedspor, the club representing his home city of Diyarbakır, and captained the side for a period.
He was killed in a car accident in the Sivrice district of Elazığ on 19 December 2016, while returning from a wedding celebration. Amedspor has continued to honor his memory, including through a training facility that bears his name.
