Seda Fettahoğlu — Biography

Seda Fettahoğlu was born on September 26, 1979, in Trabzon; after graduating from Trabzon Anatolian High School in 1997, she completed the theatre department at Bilkent University's Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in 2002. A cousin of actress Ayşe Tolga, she joined the İstanbul City Theatres company in 2003, working as a staff actress and assistant director and also directing some productions herself. Fluent in English, she did dubbing work for foreign productions, co-hosted the theatre program İyi Seyirler with Can Gürzap on Elmavision from 2003 to 2004, and in 2015 joined the coaching panel for contestants on Komedi Türkiye.

Mainly active in television and commercials, Fettahoğlu became best known for playing "Sultan," Havuç's mother-in-law, in the hit series Çocuklar Duymasın on ATV and Kanal D. She also appeared in Sihirli Annem, Dolunay, Sular Durulmuyor, Yalan Dünya, Koçum Benim, Efsane, Savcının Karısı and Loft, and starred in commercials for brands including Ülker, Nescafé and Maksimumkart.

On September 27, 2023, one day after her 44th birthday, Fettahoğlu died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a park in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district, in an episode linked to depression. She was buried in the family cemetery in Doğancı village in Giresun's Tirebolu district.
