Şebnem Ferah — Biography
Şebnem Ferah (born 12 April 1972 in Yalova) is a Turkish singer, songwriter, composer and guitarist, and one of the leading figures of Turkish rock. She grew up in a musical family and developed an early interest in rock; while studying at Middle East Technical University she co-founded the all-female hard rock band Volvox, whose lead vocalist she was from 1988 until 1994.
After the band broke up she launched a solo career with the 1996 album Kadın. Her style, which began closer to pop rock, moved progressively towards a harder rock sound across her later records, and she became known for powerful live performances. By 2008 she had released five solo albums and more than seventeen official videos; that year TRT named her among the contenders to represent Turkey at Eurovision 2009, though Hadise was ultimately chosen.
She returned to the stage in 2026 after a long absence, playing to a crowd of forty thousand at Yenikapı in Istanbul that July.
