Şamil Çinaz — Biography

Şamil Çinaz (Adyghe: Чыназыр Щамил, romanised Çınazır Şamil; born 8 March 1986 in Nuremberg) is a retired professional footballer who played in midfield. Born in Germany to a family of Circassian origin, he holds both Turkish and German citizenship: the English article calls him German, the Turkish one a Turkish player of German-Circassian descent, and the German and French entries settle on German-Turkish. He is listed at 1.86 m.

Most of his professional career was spent in Turkey. The Turkish Football Federation profiled him in 2014 as "the hard-tackling conductor of midfield", and in the 2015-16 period he was reported in Bursaspor colours, telling the club's own media that Bursa was home to him.

He joined Kayserispor in July 2017 and renewed his contract in August 2019, but left the club that December after being left out of the squad; asked about the departure by Hürriyet, he said his conscience was clear. English- and German-language references now describe him as a former player.
