Şahika Ercümen — Biography

Şahika Ercümen was born on January 16, 1985, in Çanakkale, and graduated from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Başkent University before completing a master's degree at the same institution.

A member of Turkey's national underwater hockey, underwater rugby, underwater orienteering and freediving teams since 2001, Ercümen holds an international freediving instructor license. She has set world records across several disciplines, including swimming 110 meters under the ice of a lake in Austria in 2011, descending to 91 meters off Kaş in 2014, and completing a 65-meter freshwater dive at Lake Salda in 2018.

In July 2026, she became Turkish champion with a 68-meter dive at Kaş, showing she has kept her competitive edge into the fourth decade of her career. Ercümen, who also took part in the Survivor competition broadcast on Tv8 in 2017, is known both for her athletic achievements and her background as a dietitian.
