Saffet Akyüz — Biography

Saffet Akyüz was born on 11 March 1970 in Trabzon and stands 1.82 metres tall. A former Turkish national team footballer, he spent much of his playing career at İstanbulspor, the club with which he remains most closely associated.

After retiring as a player, Akyüz moved into coaching, serving as an assistant to Hasan Şaş and Ümit Davala during Galatasaray's July 2012 pre-season training camp abroad, and later working with the club's U-19 youth side.

As of 2026, he heads the Turkish Professional Footballers' Association (TPFD), speaking publicly on behalf of the organization on issues such as betting investigations and petitions submitted by players.
