Sadık Şendil — Biography
Sadık Şendil (28 February 1913, İstanbul – 26 July 1986, İstanbul) was one of the most prolific screenwriters of Turkey's Yeşilçam cinema, as well as a playwright.
He began writing for the screen in 1953 and went on to script nearly 200 films over his career, alongside eight stage plays. He is best remembered for the comedies built around Kemal Sunal and for the Hababam Sınıfı film series, and he also wrote the lyrics to the popular song "Yılda Bir Gün." For a time he worked alongside Müjdat Gezen at the Güldürü Üretim Merkezi, and most of his screenplays reached the screen through directors Ertem Eğilmez and Sırrı Gültekin.
Decades after they were written, plays such as "Yedi Kocalı Hürmüz" and "Kanlı Nigar" are still being staged by theatre companies across Turkey today.
