Sabriye Şengül — Biography

Sabriye Şengül is an athlete from Trabzon known for her Turkish and world titles in boxing and kickboxing and for her later move into mixed martial arts. The wider public met her through TV8's Survivor, the competition produced and hosted by Acun Ilıcalı, in which she took part in both the 2017 and 2019 seasons.

She began in handball and switched to boxing in 2006 on her handball coach's advice. She became a three-time Turkish boxing champion and also won an international boxing title and the K1 World Mix title. On 23 April 2016 in Istanbul she beat Belgium's Vanessa De Waele on points in the WKU World Title fight to become world champion, and in 2018 she won a second world title by beating Austria's Christin Fedller at the ISKA professional world kickboxing championships in Vienna.

She made her mixed martial arts debut at Bellator London 2 in November 2019 and lost to the Dutch fighter Denise Kielholtz after 32 seconds of the first round. In June 2021 she beat France's Mona Ftouhi by decision in Dubai for her first win. In November 2023 she lost to Keri Taylor-Melendez by guillotine choke in the second round at Bellator 301. In January 2026 she knocked out a Hungarian opponent in two rounds to win a gold medal, and in May 2026 she stopped a match and praised her opponent's strength.
