Rober Hatemo — Biography

Born on 25 December 1974, Rober Hatemo is a Turkish singer of Armenian descent who grew up in Istanbul's Taksim district, where his interest in music took hold. After completing military service, he signed with BGM and released his debut album, Esmer, in 1997; its title track became a breakout hit that established him among the leading pop names of the era. His 1998 follow-up, Sen Farklısın, blended pop with the Turkish "fantezi" style and produced hits such as "Tanrım," "Gurur" and "Bensiz Ölmek Yoktu," while 2001's Azılı Bela kept his momentum going.

He moved toward dance-pop with 2003's "Aşksız Prens," whose video featured Yıldız Tilbe, and in 2006 signed with Avrupa Müzik for the album Sihirli Değnek, which topped the charts with singles like "Senden Çok Var" and "Beyaz ve Sen" and earned a MÜ-YAP Gold Award as one of the year's best-selling releases. He kept recording in the years that followed, releasing the EP Mahrum in 2010 and the album Pabucumun Dünyası in 2014, followed by the singles "Dikkat" in 2015 and the hit "Giden Candan Gidiyor" in 2017.

Hatemo has continued releasing singles and performing live since the late 2010s. In mid-2026 he drew significant media attention for a dramatic image makeover alongside cryptic public remarks about himself, coinciding with the release of his new single "Vara Vara." Across his career, his blend of pop, fantezi and dance-pop styles has kept him among the most recognizable figures in Turkish pop music.
