Rıdvan Dilmen — Biography

Born on 15 August 1962 in the Nazilli district of Aydın, the youngest of Mehmet Lütfü and Makbule's four children, Rıdvan Dilmen took up athletics before turning to football. A devoted Fenerbahçe supporter from childhood who would hitchhike to İzmir just to watch the club play, he lost his father at age 12; his older brother Ercüment Dilmen helped support the family by playing for, and later captaining, Denizlispor.

Dilmen began his playing career at Muğlaspor in 1979, moved on to Boluspor and then Sarıyer, and joined Fenerbahçe in 1987, winning the Turkish league title with the club in the 1988–89 season. His speed and dribbling earned him the nickname "Şeytan Rıdvan" ("Devil Rıdvan"), a label he never fully embraced. A severe injury during the 1989–90 season disrupted his career, and he retired from playing on 31 January 1996 before moving into coaching, taking charge of Fenerbahçe as well as clubs including Vanspor, Altay İzmir, Adanaspor, and Karşıyaka. He earned 24 caps and scored 5 goals for the Turkey national team.

After his coaching career, Dilmen shifted to football punditry and remains active today as a television commentator and analyst, regularly weighing in on Fenerbahçe's transfer dealings.
