resul yörük — Biography

Hakkı Yeten — widely known by the nicknames "Baba Hakkı" ("Father Hakkı") and "Hakkı Kaptan" — was a Turkish sportsman and administrator born on 3 December 1910 in Vodina (present-day Edessa, Greece) and who died on 16 April 1989 in Istanbul. A law graduate of Istanbul University, he also boxed competitively and represented Turkey at the 1936 Berlin Olympics before becoming known primarily as a footballer.

He began his playing career as a centre-forward with Karagümrük between 1926 and 1931, then moved to Beşiktaş, where he spent the next 17 years and became one of the club's all-time leading goalscorers, including in Istanbul derbies. After retiring as a player, he served as Beşiktaş's head coach and later as club president, holding the presidency across three separate terms in the 1960s for a combined six years — becoming the club's 18th president.

Alongside Süleyman Seba, Yeten is one of only two honorary presidents in Beşiktaş Jimnastik Kulübü's history. His legacy is preserved in the club's infrastructure: a street by the Fulya facilities bears his name, and one of the covered stands at Vodafone Park (now Beşiktaş Park), opened in 2016, was named the "Baba Hakkı Tribünü" in his honor.
