Reha Kapsal — Biography
Reha Kapsal is a Turkish former striker and football manager who now works as a pundit on A Spor. He is cited as one of 19 managers to have taken teams up to the Süper Lig twice, and he became well known in the Süper Lig and 1. Lig for his training methods and tactical outlook.
Born in Diyarbakır, Kapsal started his professional career around 1982. He played for Diyarbakırspor, Altay, Trabzonspor (1989-1990), Aydınspor, Zeytinburnuspor (1994-1997) and Malatya Belediyespor (1997-1998), and won the 1. Lig with Altay in 1983-84. He began coaching in 1999 as an assistant at Altay, then worked at Marmaris Belediyespor and Manisaspor, returned to Altay as an assistant and was also an assistant at Kayseri Erciyesspor. He led Altay to the 1. Lig title in 2001-02 and, in 2003-04, finished third with Ankaraspor to earn promotion to the Süper Lig. He then coached Ankaragücü, the Turkey U-21 national team and Karşıyaka, with whom he reached the 1. Lig play-off final in 2008-09 and lost to Kasımpaşa, missing promotion.
In 2010 he signed a 1.5-year contract with Manisaspor, but the two parted ways the same year after disagreements with the board. In February 2011 he returned to Karşıyaka, replacing Turgut Uçar, and resigned in October. On 20 February 2014 he left Şanlıurfaspor.
