Özlem Türay — Biography

Özlem Türay is an actress whose career runs from the stage to the screen and joins improvisational theatre with television drama. On TV she is best known for the role of Aygün in Gelsin Hayat Bildiği Gibi, and since 2023 she has been in the cast of Yargı. Her full name is Nimet Özlem Türay.

She first took up theatre at 14 with the İzmir Karşıyaka Tiyatro Atölyesi. She entered the theatre department of Ankara University's Faculty of Languages and History-Geography in 2000 and graduated in 2004. Mahşer-i Cümbüş, the troupe she founded in 2001 with five friends from school, was among the first groups to perform improvisational theatre in Turkey. In 2003 she acted in Kafkas Tebeşir Dairesi, and in 2004 she played Hamlet in an adaptation of Hamlet. That year she also appeared in the TRT children's programme Benimle Oynar mısın?.

Since 2008 she has worked in film and television: Küçük Ağa, 20 Dakika, Hayat Şarkısı, Dolunay and Çukur are her main television credits, and Yedi Avlu and Müjdemi İsterim her film work. In 2023 she joined Yargı as the character Filiz. She also sings: she performed the folk song Hey Onbeşli with Ayça Işıldar and took part in the Doğa İçin Çal project. She teaches theatre at a private college and has brought theatre sport to the screen in Anında Görüntü Show.
