Özer Umdu — Biography
Özer Umdu (born 1952 in Balıkesir) is a retired Turkish footballer remembered as one of the leading strikers of the Turkish Süper Lig in the second half of the 1970s. He helped Balıkesirspor win promotion from the second division during the 1974-75 season, a feat that, combined with his heading ability, earned him the nickname "Altın Kafa" ("Golden Head").
Later in his career Umdu also played for Beşiktaş, and he was crowned the Süper Lig's top scorer in the 1978-79 season with 15 goals. Since retiring from the game he has remained a well-known figure around his native Balıkesir and Bandırma, occasionally sharing recollections of his playing days with the local press.
