Oya Okar — Biography

Oya Okar was born on 12 January 1986 in Istanbul. After completing her secondary education in the music department of a fine arts high school, she graduated from the theatre department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory, where she also earned her master's and doctoral degrees.

She began acting in 2005 with the role of Gülçin in the series Şöhret, and in 2007 she played Gülümsün in Doktorlar. She went on to appear in the series Dağlar Delisi, Sınıf, Düğün Şarkıcısı, İstanbul Çocukları, Mavi Kelebekler, Böyle Bitmesin, Ben Onu Çok Sevdim, Zeytin Tepesi and Eve Dönüş, and played Pandora in the 2016 film Saruhan.

Known for her role as Selin Demirci in Kanal D's long-running crime series Arka Sokaklar, which she joined in 2015, Okar left the show in 2026 to join Star TV's new project Başkalarının Hayatı. Since 2024 she has also worked as an academic at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Istanbul Aydın University.
