Osman Denizci — Biography

Osman Denizci is a Trabzon-born former midfielder and manager who was known during his playing days as "Delikanlı Osman". His name is most closely tied to Fenerbahçe's 1982-1983 title: the goal he scored against Bursaspor on the last day of the season is remembered as the one that won Fenerbahçe the championship. His older brother, Ali Kemal Denizci, was also a well-known Süper Lig player.

He began playing at Erzurumspor while studying Agricultural Engineering at Atatürk University, and won the Third League title with the club in 1979. That year he moved to Çaykur Rizespor, where he played two seasons. In 1981 he joined Fenerbahçe through his brother's mediation, and was part of the side that won both the Süper Lig and the Federation Cup in 1982-1983. It had been reported that he would join Trabzonspor in the summer, yet he kept playing for Fenerbahçe to the end of the season. The following season he won the league and the Federation Cup with Trabzonspor, then lost his place through injuries and was loaned to Bursaspor. He returned to Fenerbahçe in 1986-1987 and played there for two seasons; in 1988-1989 he was loaned to Giresunspor and retired at the end of the season.

He played for the Turkey national team three times. At Fenerbahçe he was also in the squads that won the 1983 Fleet Cup and three TSYD Cups (1981, 1983, 1987). After his playing career he worked as a manager.
