Orhan Kaynak — Biography

Orhan Kaynak was a forward from the Kaynak brothers' football family of Adana, the youngest of the group, and was known as "Küçük Orhan". He had the best spell of his career at Trabzonspor, later moved into coaching, and died in Trabzon on 10 March 2026, at 56, while serving as Fatih Tekke's assistant at Trabzonspor.

He came out of Adanaspor's academy and turned professional in 1987-88, winning the First League with the team in his first season and reaching the Süper Lig; Adanaspor were relegated in 1990-91. In the second of his seasons at Samsunspor he scored 15 goals in 35 matches and helped take the side back to the Süper Lig. At Trabzonspor, which he joined in 1993, he was called "Küçük Orhan" so he would not be confused with Orhan Çıkırıkçı in the same squad. His best season was 1994-95: he scored 14 goals in 31 league games, shared the Turkish Cup top-scorer title with Şota Arveladze and won the cup, and scored in both legs of the UEFA Cup tie in which Trabzonspor knocked out Aston Villa. In 1996-97 he was mostly a substitute at Beşiktaş, and at Kocaelispor, whom he joined in 1997-98, he again became a regular starter.

As a manager he took charge of Sarıyer in 2018, then Elazığspor and Boluspor, leaving Elazığspor after seven months because of the club's severe financial state. In May 2025 he joined Tekke's staff at Trabzonspor as an assistant coach. Fatih Terim and Şenol Güneş were among those at his funeral.
