Onur Kıvrak — Biography

Onur Recep Kıvrak was born on 1 January 1988 in Alaşehir, Manisa. A goalkeeper by trade, he began playing football in the youth academy of İzmir club Bornova Yeşilovaspor before turning professional with First League side Karşıyaka in 2004. He was transferred to Trabzonspor in January 2008 for a fee of 700,000 euros, and became the club's undisputed first-choice goalkeeper in 2009 after head coach Şenol Güneş took charge. Known to Trabzonspor supporters as "Kelebek" (Butterfly) for his shot-stopping, he won the Turkish Cup with the club in the 2009-10 season and the Turkish Super Cup in 2010, and was named Futbol Plus magazine's Young Talent of the Year in 2010 and its Goalkeeper of the Year in both 2011 and 2013.

Kıvrak also represented Turkey at youth level, winning the UEFA European Under-17 Championship and finishing third at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. He made his senior national team debut on 26 May 2010 and went on to earn 13 caps through 2016. He retired from professional football in January 2019 after mutually terminating his contract with Trabzonspor, and has since spoken in interviews about wanting to move into a club management role.
