Onur Ayık — Biography

Onur Ayık is a winger who was born and raised in Germany, represented Turkey at youth level and won the Turkish Cup and the Super Cup with Akhisar Belediyespor. He can also play as a forward and as an attacking midfielder. He also played in the UEFA Europa League with Akhisarspor in 2018-19.

He started playing at the age of five at SV Viktoria Rethem and moved to Werder Bremen in 2004. He won the North German title with the U-19 side in 2008-09, scoring 9 goals in 21 matches. He stepped up to the reserve side in the 3. Liga and in 2009-10 was its top scorer with 11 goals in 30 matches. His first Bundesliga match was against Leverkusen on 21 February 2010; in November 2010 he played in the Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur. When his contract ended in 2012, trials with several German clubs did not lead to a deal, and he spent the second half of the season at fourth-tier FC Oberneuland.

His Turkish adventure began with Elazığspor; in 2014 he moved to Kardemir Karabükspor. He joined Akhisar Belediyespor in 2015-16 and found a place in the team as coach Cihat Arslan gave him minutes. On 10 May 2018 they won the 2017-18 Turkish Cup, the club's first professional trophy, and the Super Cup followed. In 2020 he agreed to join Tuzlaspor and then played for Ümraniyespor. He represented Turkey at U-16, U-18 and U-19 level and was called into the A2 squad in March 2014.
