Ömer Kaner — Biography
Ömer Kaner was born on 21 May 1951 in Istanbul and built his playing career as a forward, turning out for clubs including Eskişehirspor, Zonguldakspor, Fenerbahçe and Fatih Karagümrük. He topped the Turkish first division's scoring charts in the 1974-75 season with 14 goals for Eskişehirspor.
After retiring as a player, Kaner moved into coaching, guiding Denizlispor to promotion to the Süper Lig and later serving as head coach of Turkey's national futsal team. His relationship with Fenerbahçe spanned several roles over the years, as he served the club as a player, coach and administrator at different points. Ömer Kaner died on 12 February 2026 at the age of 74.
