Ömer Faruk Sorak — Biography
Ömer Faruk Sorak was born on April 27, 1964, in Ankara. After graduating from Ankara University's School of Communication in 1986, he worked as a cameraman at TRT between 1987 and 1995 before moving into cinematography.
Through Böcek Yapım, the production company he founded in 1998, he built a career shooting and directing commercials and music videos, then moved into feature films with Vizontele in 2000, co-directed with Yılmaz Erdoğan. He went on to direct a string of widely seen Turkish films, including G.O.R.A., Sınav, Yahşi Batı, Yahşi Çin, 8 Saniye and Bandırma Füze Kulübü.
Sorak served as jury president of the Adana Altın Koza Film Festival in 2023, released D.I.S.C.O. in 2026, and the same year began filming Aşk Tesadüfleri Sever 3, the third installment of his popular romantic-comedy series.
