Ömer Çatkıç — Biography
Ömer Çatkıç (born 15 October 1974 in Eskişehir) is a Turkish former international goalkeeper who later worked as a football pundit and coach. He is listed at 1.88 m.
He played for Eskişehirspor, Gaziantepspor, Gençlerbirliği and Bursaspor, returned to Gaziantepspor for the 2007-08 season and finished at Antalyaspor in the Süper Lig. German sources credit him with 211 top-flight appearances for Gaziantepspor, more than any other player in that club's history. With Turkey he was in the squads for Euro 2000, the 2002 World Cup and the 2003 Confederations Cup; Russian sources note the third-place finishes at the last two.
In August 2017 he was detained and then arrested in the investigation into the Gülen movement, on an allegation of ByLock use, as reported by Anadolu Agency, Hürriyet and Bloomberg HT; he was released in October 2018. In March 2023 he was given a prison sentence in the case concerning the movement's alleged "football structure", alongside Bekir İrtegün and Uğur Boral, and press reports say he was released in January 2025.
