Okan Koç — Biography
Born in Adapazarı, Sakarya, on January 22, 1982, Okan Koç began his career at Çanakkale Dardanelspor after being spotted by Hürser Tekinoktay. In 2001 he was transferred to Gençlerbirliği through İlhan Cavcav's initiative, making 46 official appearances and scoring 5 goals for the club over two seasons.
In the 2003-04 season he moved to Beşiktaş in a deal involving Ali Cansun and $1.6 million in exchange for Ahmed Hassan, Sinan Kaloğlu, Ramazan Kurşunlu and Emre Aşık, but his enthusiasm for Istanbul nightlife and friction with his coaches hurt his form, and he was loaned out to Konyaspor and Ankaragücü. In the middle of the 2005-06 season a move to Galatasaray was agreed but fell through over licensing issues and problems with Beşiktaş, sending him to Ankaragücü instead, where he was left out of the squad after a training-ground fight. In 2006, his brother Orhan Koç was killed in an armed attack in Gaziosmanpaşa.
He transferred to Manisaspor mid-way through the 2006-07 season and to Sakaryaspor in 2008-09. At Altay in 2009-10 he scored his first goal for the club against Boluspor before moving to Denizlispor in the second half of that season; he left Denizlispor at the 2010-11 midseason break and finished the campaign at Çanakkale Dardanel. He retired after the 2011-12 season, in which he made 10 appearances and scored 1 goal for Konya Şekerspor.
