Oğuz Dağlaroğlu — Biography

Oğuz Dağlaroğlu is a former goalkeeper best remembered for the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby of 6 May 2001. He came on when Rüştü Reçber was injured, helped the team win with his saves in the remaining minutes, and Fenerbahçe went on to take the title that season. He ended his career at Sarıyer.

Raised in the Fenerbahçe youth system, he signed a professional contract in 1998 but spent his first season with the PAF and A2 sides. In 1999-2000 he joined the first-team squad and made his first official appearance on 22 December 2000 against Kocaelispor. With Fenerbahçe he won the Süper Lig in 2000-01 and finished second in 2001-02. In 2003-04 he was unexpectedly left out of the squad and left at the end of the season; the decision drew strong reaction from the fans. In the following years he was mostly a backup goalkeeper at many Süper Lig and First League clubs. At the start of 2010-11 he joined newly promoted TKİ Tavşanlı Linyitspor, quickly became first-choice keeper, and the team lost to Gaziantep BB in the play-offs, narrowly missing promotion to the Süper Lig. From 2011-12 he kept goal for Akhisar Belediyespor for four seasons, then moved to First League side Adana Demirspor ahead of 2015-16.

At youth level he made eight appearances for Turkey's U-17, U-18 and U-21 teams. He is the grandson of Rüştü Dağlaroğlu, a former Fenerbahçe player and executive, and a graduate of Istanbul University's School of Business. He has also appeared in the sports press as a racehorse owner.
