Oğuz Çetin — Biography

Ahmet Oğuz Çetin was born on 15 February 1963 in Adapazarı, Sakarya. A playmaking midfielder, he played for Adanaspor, İstanbulspor and Fenerbahçe at club level, and earned 70 caps and 3 goals for the Turkish national team between 1988 and 1998, including an appearance at the 1996 European Championship. His 503 Süper Lig appearances stood as the league's all-time record until it was surpassed by Umut Bulut on 20 February 2020.

After retiring as a player, Çetin moved into coaching and football punditry, serving as assistant coach of the Turkish national team until November 2011 and taking charge on an interim basis in the spring of 2010.

As of 2026, Çetin serves as Fenerbahçe's football director, a role in which he has been prominent in the club's public statements during the summer transfer window.
