Ogün Altıparmak — Biography
Ogün Altıparmak is remembered as one of Fenerbahçe's best-loved strikers; in 1970-71 he was the Süper Lig's top scorer with 16 goals, the first Fenerbahçe player to win the title. His bond with the club outlasted his playing days, and fans knew him as "Fenerbahçeli Ogün". When he died at 86 on 2 February 2025, both Fenerbahçe and the Turkish Football Federation published tributes.
He began playing in the 1950s at Karşıyaka and won the İzmir league there. In 1963 he moved to Fenerbahçe with a broken leg; the businessman Kadir Has helped bring the transfer about. In the yellow and navy he played centre-forward and right wing, and was part of the squads that won four league titles and a Turkish Cup. In the 1968-69 European Champions Cup he scored in the 2-1 win over Manchester City, and in 1968 he spent a season in the United States with the Washington Whips. With 106 goals in 306 top-flight matches between 1959 and 1971, he was the fifth player to pass 100 league goals. He won 32 caps for Turkey, scored six goals and captained the side twice.
After football he worked as a sports writer, coached Giresunspor for eleven weeks in 1971-72 and served as a Fenerbahçe board member in 1986-87. He also entered politics, leading ANAP's Kadıköy district branch before resigning in 1987 and joining DYP. His son Batur Altıparmak also played for Fenerbahçe. He was buried at Karacaahmet Cemetery.
