Nuri Asan — Biography

Nuri Asan (3 March 1940, Samsun – 20 January 1989) was a Turkish footballer who later worked as a coach. He played for Galatasaray, Ankaragücü and Samsunspor, spending a significant part of his career with his hometown club. He was later voted by Samsunspor supporters into the club's all-time best starting eleven, a lasting mark of his standing among the team's fans.

Beyond his playing career, Asan's name became permanently tied to Samsunspor: the training facility the club uses for practice and match preparation, completed in 1990, was named Nuri Asan Tesisleri (Nuri Asan Facilities) in his honor. Decades later, the facility remains a live topic in local affairs, occasionally surfacing as a subject of debate in the Samsun metropolitan municipal council.
