Numan Çürüksu — Biography

Numan Çürüksu is a former Turkish footballer, best known as a centre-back and for his years at Osmanlıspor. The 1.90 m defender joined the club in the summer of 2015, soon became its first-choice centre-back and took over the captaincy. He played every minute of its Europa League matches and was named in the competition's team of the week several times.

Born in Trabzon, he began in the Erdoğduspor youth system, moved to Sürmenespor's and signed a professional contract in 2006. After winning the 3. Lig title with Sürmenespor and Ofspor he joined first-division side Orduspor in the 2009-10 winter window. At first a substitute, he won his place after starting against Mersin İdman Yurdu on 17 October 2010, in the absence of Jerry Akaminko, and played well; Orduspor won the 1. Lig play-offs in 2010-11. When his contract ended by mutual consent in December 2012 he signed for Kayseri Erciyesspor and won the 1. Lig title in 2012-13.

He scored Osmanlıspor's first goal in the Europa League and the goal that gave his side a 1-0 win over Moldova's Zimbru. In 2017 he said his aim was a Turkey senior call-up. In the summer of 2018 Erzurumspor were reported to be targeting him, and in July 2019 he left Osmanlıspor with a farewell message. Kocaelispor is also among his clubs.
