Nevin Yanıt — Biography
Nevin Yanıt was born in 1986 in Mersin.
A national athlete, Nevin Yanıt made a name for herself in 2006 by finishing first in the 100 meters and the 100 meters hurdles at the Interuniversity Athletics Championship.
In 2006, she competed on behalf of ENKA in the European Champion Clubs Cup held in Valencia, Spain, and won the gold medal in the 100 meters hurdles with a time of 12.98.
In 2007, at the Summer Universiade held in Bangkok, she finished second in the 100 meters hurdles and won the silver medal.
At the Beijing Olympics, she became the first female athlete to represent our country in the quarterfinals of the 100 meters hurdles with a time of 12.94.
She won a gold medal at the 2009 Summer Universiade, and in 2010 at the European Athletics Championship in Barcelona, she became European Champion in the 100 meters hurdles with a time of 12.64 seconds, breaking her own Turkish record.
She also became European Champion in the 2012 competition held in Helsinki; in 2013, due to a banned substance found in her urine at the competition held in Düsseldorf, she was banned from competitions for 3 years by the Athletics Federation Disciplinary Board, and all her results since 2012 were annulled and two of her gold medals were taken back.
Nevin Yanıt is part of the Volunteers team in the Survivor 2018 competition produced and presented by Acun Ilıcalı.
