Nev — Biography

Nevzat Doğansoy, known by his stage name Nev, is a Turkish singer, composer and lyricist born in Istanbul on 24 December 1968. He started out on the mandolin, moved to electric guitar in university and was performing within months; after graduating he worked for a time as a product manager for brands such as Adidas and Slazenger while keeping music alongside his job.

In 2000 he gained wide stage experience joining Teoman's national tour, and after three years in the studio released his debut album Her Şeye Rağmen in 2001 and a follow-up, Sen Gibi, in 2004, performing on Coca-Cola-sponsored tours and at the Fanta youth festival in this period. His 2007 album Işığım ve Gölgem led universities to vote him best male vocalist that year, and in 2010 he released Bir Nev-i Alaturka, reworking Turkish classical repertoire with rock and tango textures. He won Best Male Soloist in Turkish Art Music at the 2011 Golden Butterfly Awards, and has given close to 400 concerts across Turkey since 2001.
