Nesim Turan — Biography

Nesim Turan, born on 2 March 1992 in Ağrı, is a Turkish national para table tennis player competing in class 4 and a Paralympic medalist.

At the 2014 World Para Table Tennis Championships in Beijing he won gold in the individual C4 event and, together with teammates Abdullah Öztürk and Ali Öztürk, silver in the C5 team event. In 2016 the same trio took gold in the C4 team event at the Lignano Master Open in Italy, and later that year he won bronze in the team (class 4-5) event at the Rio Paralympics. He added a further bronze in the men's singles class 4 at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics after losing his semifinal to South Korea's Kim Young-gun, and won a third career bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, again partnered with Abdullah Öztürk.

In April 2025 Turan announced the end of a 19-year competitive career; since retiring he has met with students at schools to share his experience and continues to host guests on his own YouTube channel.
