Necat Aygün

Necat Aygün — Biography

Necat Aygün is a defender who grew up in Munich in a Turkish family and worked his way from the German lower leagues up to the Bundesliga. His only spell in Turkey was the 2001-02 season at Beşiktaş. After his playing days he moved into club management and, since 1 February 2020, has worked as technical director for sports at the second-division side Karlsruher SC.

He started out at FC Wacker München and joined TSV 1860 München at twelve. Werner Lorant promoted him to the senior squad for 2000-01, yet he got no minutes there; for the reserves he scored 5 goals in 30 games. In July 2001 he went to Beşiktaş at Christoph Daum's request. He played five minutes in his debut against Bursaspor, came on as a substitute in all 8 league games and the one cup game, and left when his contract expired.

Back in Germany he won the Regionalliga title with SpVgg Unterhaching in 2002-03, reaching the 2. Bundesliga for the first time, and in the first half of 2005-06 scored 5 goals in 15 games. He made his Bundesliga debut for MSV Duisburg on 4 February 2006, but after the relegation he again found little playing time. With FC Ingolstadt 04 he went up to the 2. Bundesliga in 2008, then played for SV Sandhausen and returned to 1860 Munich in 2010. He retired around 2014, started as a scout at 1860 and became sporting director of the first team in 2015, until Oliver Kreuzer replaced him on 4 November of that year.
