Nazmi Bilge — Biography
Born in Trabzon on 10 October 1934, Nazmi Bilge began his football career after moving to Izmir to play for Altay. He went on to spend the most productive and memorable years of his career at Beşiktaş, where he served as team captain and became one of the club's recognizable forwards, a run of form that also earned him caps for the Turkish national team.
After retiring from playing, Bilge moved into coaching, passing on his experience from the pitch to a new generation. He died in Istanbul on 8 August 2013. He is still remembered, particularly by Beşiktaş supporters, for the years he wore the captain's armband, and fans continue to gather at his grave on the anniversaries of his death to honor his contribution to Turkish football.
