Naşide Göktürk — Biography

Naşide Göktürk (1 April 1965, İstanbul – 30 August 2016, Bodrum) was a Turkish poet, lyricist, composer and singer. She spent her childhood and youth on Büyükada, began writing during her school years, and before turning to music worked for a time as an accountant and ran a café in Ankara. She released her first album in the mid-1990s and became best known for the song "Yüreğim Rehin", which also lent its name to that record.

She wrote love songs such as "Sakın Ha" and "Yüreğim Rehin" for actor Altan Erkekli, to whom she was engaged for a time, and also penned the lyrics and music of "Allah Şahit", which appeared on Aşkın Nur Yengi's album "Haberci".

In July 2015 her close friend, art-music performer Onur Akay, publicly revealed that Göktürk had been diagnosed with lung and pancreatic cancer, news that deeply saddened both the arts community and her many fans. After a period of treatment in Bodrum, she died there on 30 August 2016 and, per her wishes, was buried in the town.
