Nagihan Karadere — Biography

Nagihan Karadere was born in 1984 in Kadirli, in Osmaniye Province, and became known as one of Turkey's leading athletes in the 400 meters hurdles.

At the 2011 Turkish Super League Final held in Ankara, Karadere set a new national record of 55.09 seconds in the 400 meters hurdles, and that same year she won a bronze and a silver medal at the Summer Universiade held in Shenzhen, China. Although she qualified to compete in the 400 meters hurdles at the 2012 London Olympics, she was disqualified for a false start after leaving the blocks before the starting gun.

Following her athletics career, Karadere also moved into television, taking part in the Survivor competition filmed in the Dominican Republic in 2016. She returned as a contestant in the 2022, 2024 and 2026 seasons, finishing the 2026 season as runner-up.
