Naci Bastoncu — Biography

Naci Bastoncu was born in 1914 in Trabzon, the son of Mehmet Bey. He took up football locally at Trabzon Lisesi before moving on to Trabzon İdmanocağı, and because of his Trabzon roots he became known by the Black Sea nickname "Taka."

He moved to Istanbul in 1934 and signed with Fenerbahçe, where he played as a striker until 1947, making 388 appearances and scoring 232 goals. During his time with the club he won 5 Istanbul Football League titles, 2 Istanbul Shields, 5 National Division titles, 2 Turkish Football Championships, 2 Prime Ministry Cups and 1 Istanbul Cup, and his prolific scoring record is still remembered in retrospectives on the club's greatest forwards.

Naci Bastoncu died on 28 October 1983 and was buried near the Koşuyolu entrance of Karacaahmet Cemetery.
