Muzzy İzzet — Biography
Mustafa Kemal İzzet, known in England as Muzzy Izzet, was born on October 31, 1974, in Mile End, London, to a Turkish Cypriot father and an English mother. Playing as a midfielder, he spent his club career between 1993 and 2006 with Chelsea, Leicester City, and Birmingham City.
Across nine seasons in the Premier League he made 248 league appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing 27 assists, figures that made him the first Turkish player in Premier League history; at Leicester City in particular, he long held the club's record for most Premier League appearances.
Despite being born in England, he chose to represent Turkey internationally, earning a place in the squad for UEFA Euro 2000 and later forming part of the Turkey side that finished third at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. His brother Kemal İzzet, also a professional footballer, played for England's lower-division club Colchester United.
